Nothing reminds us how important the mundane or the ordinary really is until we are challenged to “sit with it” for longer than a minute. We have had weeks not minutes, to examine the most basic aspects of our lives and the lives of those around us. All the comical internet videos aside - and there are some great ones - we have the chance to recast the mundane aspects of our lives, and without stress or strain, turn them into magic.
This week Anthea Stratigos shared highlights of her book Magic in the Mundane, a book she gave me to read in the galley stage. As I flew cross country with it, I couldn’t believe how every one of the 70 essays applied to me. How did she know her observations and insights would apply to millions more people than herself? While everyone’s magic may be different, we all share a lens at this particular time in our lives and I would posit that we will create magic with and for each other, the likes of which we have not seen in our lifetimes.
Brava Anthea!
